How to Prevent Influenza
Avoiding Contact with Germs and Virus Keeping a Healthy Life Style Nutrition in Healthy Mode
With its characteristic symptoms (muscular soreness, fatigue, fever, chills and nasal congestion), the flu can make us feel really bad. Depending on the severity of the virus, the disturbances may last for several days or weeks. For some people, the flu has proved to be fatal! Once the virus is contracted, there is not much to do to relieve the symptoms and shorten their duration, so the best thing is to try to prevent the disease. Even in this case, however, this is not an easy task: prevention requires commitment and consistency.
1) Wash your hands frequently.
It is the simplest preventive measure to avoid contracting the flu. Wash the germs out of your hands using hot soapy water as often as possible. By making use of them many times a day, hot and soapy water are all they need.
Hand hygiene products are not as effective as simple soap and hot water but can be useful when they are not available.
Wash your hands before and after meals before and after contact with food, after touching the trash, after shaking hands or touching someone else in any way, and when you come home after being in a public place. You should wash your hands even after sneezing (even if you turned your face to your arm or elbow), to have touched an animal, changed a nappy, or helped a child use the toilette.
2) Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
The quickest way to get influenza virus or other germs is to transfer them from hands to eyes, nose, or mouth. For this reason, during the influenza season, you should avoid as much as possible to touch you in these areas (unless you have just washed your hands).
Eating your nails will expose you to a very high risk of contagion. Viruses and other germs may be trapped under your nails even after you have washed their hands.
3) Restricts contact with sick people.
In some cases, it will be impossible to avoid it altogether, but to minimize contact with those who are influenced greatly increases the probability of being healthy.
Even if it is a disease other than influenza, the best thing to do is stay away. If you were to contract another virus, your immune system would weaken and your body would do more to protect you from influenza.
4) Use a disinfectant.
Influenza virus may lie in wait for the most easily exposed germs in the home or office area, so it is a good idea to disinfect them. This advice is particularly useful if any of your colleagues or family members have recently become ill. If you work in a very crowded environment, disinfect common use surfaces (such as handles and handrails) to reduce the likelihood of germ infection.
Treating home surfaces could be simpler than cleaning them in public. Try using comfortable hygienic wipes or a hand disinfectant.
5) flu vaccine.
Doctors recommend that pregnant women, children, the elderly and those suffering from chronic illness prevent influenza with the appropriate vaccine.  Flu viruses change and become continuous, but the seasonal flu vaccine is formulated to prevent the most active strains in that period.
The ideal time to do the vaccine is shortly after it has been made available, usually at the beginning or mid-autumn. In any case, it is useful even if it is done later.
If you do not like injections or you are afraid of needles, you can tell about the vaccines that are given as nasal spray.
6) Sleep enough.
To keep your body healthy, you should sleep about 7-9 hours a night. The more the body is resting, the more the immune system is effective.
Sleep deficiency can induce the body to produce excess cytokines, proteins responsible for the onset of symptoms during flu or colds.
